Can artificial intelligence be powerful while also being responsible for data privacy? This was one of the central questions at the Data State Inspectorate's 25th anniversary conference "Personal Data | Future Perspectives".

Gatis Romanovskis and Līga Ignate addressed the balance between data protection and powerful AI model training in their presentation.

  • Accuracy is determined by a clear objective. Large volumes of data do not inherently guarantee better results. Without a specific task, data usage becomes legally risky and technically inefficient.
  • Local context prevents interpretation bias. Models based solely on global data often fail to accurately reflect local realities – language nuances and legal regulations.
  • Privacy is a quality control mechanism. Compliance with GDPR requirements ensures that solutions are reliable and legally correct.

Data quality, context, and a responsible approach will determine which AI solutions will be practically usable and trustworthy.
